Peter S Walker is 54 years old and currently lives in Sartell Minnesota. He got his first taste of trapshooting at the age of 10. He grew up in the small town of Erskine in Northwestern Minnesota, where his dad, Dean, was part of a group that started a one field club alongside the local grass strip airport. At age 17 he was the league’s individual high gun for the year.

Peter enlisted in the National Guard while in high school and completed basic training and

Infantry school after graduation. He then continued his education at

Vermillion Community College in Ely Minnesota acquiring his degree in law enforcement.

He was a Law Enforcement Officer for 31 years retiring in 2024 as a Patrol Sergeant from Wright County Sheriff’s Office, where he was also a firearms instructor and armorer.

Peter Started shooting registered targets in 1996, attending a few shoots here and there for several years. In 2000, he shot his first 100 straight in singles while shooting with his parents in AZ. He began to shoot more frequently and seriously in 2011, which was also the first year he attended the Grand American. In 2012, he shot his first 200-straight and achieved the 27 yard line, while shooting at the Grand American. He shot his first 100-straight in doubles in 2013 and completed his ATA Grand slam while shooting the Wisconsin state shoot in 2023. He went on to shoot 2 more within 19 days. In 2023 he shot a complete grand slam while attending the Grand American. Peter has traveled and competed in many state shoots, satellite grands, and Grand Americans. He’s been on 14 Men’s state teams, all of them on the 1st team and was the Captain in 2024. Peter’s lifetime composite average is currently 94.92%. Peter has been named to 6 All American teams, (3 Open 2nd team and 3 Open 1st team.)

Peter’s first state title came in 2015, when he won the Championship Doubles after a perfect score of 100, and a 3-round shootoff. He was also the State HOA champion in 2021, 2023 and 2026. Across the country, he has won many events, including ATA Central zone HAA champion in 2021, ATA Central zone class singles, and ATA Central Zone singles championship in 2024. He also has been champion in 4 Grand American events, including 2024 Champion of Champions. In addition to his shooting career, He has also been serving on the MTA board of directors since 2017.

Trap shooting has always been a family activity for him, and he frequently competed alongside his parents, Dean and Betty, his sister, Julie and wife, Dawn. Retirement is allowing Peter and Dawn to shoot almost year round now with a brief break for fall hunting. They can be found all around the Mid-West, competing in many states.
