Doug Sundberg began trapshooting in 1971, he joined the ATA in 1973. With 27,100 singles targets he has a lifetime average of .9793.  He had the high average in 1978 of .9864 on 2500 singles targets.  In 1977 he had the highest doubles average in the state with .9458 on 2,900 targets.

In his career he has shot 9-200 straights in singles, 72-100 straights in singles and 1-100 straight in doubles (1971). His state titles include State Singles Champion in 1976, 1977 and 1986 (200 X 200).  State HOA Champion in 1976, 1977 and 1983, State HAA 1977.  Doug won the Al Kamrath Handicap trophy in 1983 with 288 X 300 (95, 96, 97). He has four Diamond Badges (singles and doubles).

The three years that he shot the target requirements he has made the State Team.

He has attended three Grand's and 3 Spring Grand's.  At the Grand he was runner-up in the Champion of Champion's race two years in a row. Doug took 3rd in AA for the Class Championship event. Also, he was on the Minnesota State Team that won the Special Race (991 X 1000). He has been on 2 All-American 2nd Teams.

Anyone who has shot at the Grand Rapids Gun Club has seen Dick in action. He was instrumental in getting the new club built in 1980 with 9 traps, a beautiful clubhouse and hook ups for 40 units.

Dick has been Secretary-Treasure and President of the Grand Rapids Gun Club for 27 years.
