Jim Shot his first registered targets in August 1969 at the Glenville Gun Club. Three years later at Austin, MN Jim won the Southern Zone Championship. He then went on to the State Shoot that year and won the State Champion of Champions. The following year, 1973 Jim was High Over All at the Sioux Indian Shoot.

It took Jim 1800 handicap targets shot between 1969 and 1973 to reach the 27 yard line. While doing this, he won the Old Dutch Handicap, The Sioux Indian Handicap, and the 4th of July Handicap in Owatonna.

Jim won the Minnesota State Singles Championship in 1980 and broke all 16 yard targets at the state shoot.  Jim has always been one on the high-scoring shooters at the Minnesota State Shoot.  He has won the singles, doubles championships, High-All-Around and High-Over-All.  Jim has been on 10 State teams.

A quick and partial listing of the major championships and other shooting titles show that Jim has been high gun in over 25 prestigious events in the State of Minnesota.

He has been a consistent high scoring  non-resident winner at other state shoots throughout the country.  Jim can be proud of a 16 yard lifetime average of 97.04 on 37,500 targets.

He has a lifetime all-around average of 92.54% which includes 16 yard targets and 43,450 handicap and doubles targets.
