David Earl Terning, age 61 of Hutchinson, passed away Monday, December 5,
2011, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Funeral Service
were held on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel with interment at the Dassel Community Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Further visitation will be at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home of Dassel.

Evy McGowan passed
away today in Rush City, MN, August 15, 2011. For
those of you that may not remember Evy, and I don't know how one could
forget, she was the spitfire cashier at Del-Tone's shoots when Dick
& Judy still owned the club. Evy also worked in the office/kennel
for the State Shoot for 20+ years.

Minnesota Hall of Famer Richard
Sturk (left) passed away on June 10, 2011. He was 83. Richard was
a three time MTA president and a MTA Hall of Famer, inducted in 1993.
Born May 20, 1928 in Nashwauk, he was the
son of Anthony and Ann (Krmpotich) Sturk. Dick was a 1946 graduate of
Greenway High School and served in the U.S. Navy from June 1946 to
June 1948. He attended Itasca Junior College 1948 through 1950 and
also started working for the City of Bovey in 1948 and retired in 1984
with 36 years of service. Dick and Patricia Dethloff were married on
April 28, 1956 in Grand
Rapids. They lived in Coleraine for five years prior to moving to
Bovey where they resided for 39 years, moving to Grand Rapids in 2001.
Dick was a member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church of Coleraine
and played football, basketball, and track through his school years,
and played football during his Navy service. He enjoyed fishing,
hunting, and trapshooting and was an ardent pool player. He was a trap
shooter for 50 years, was elected president of the Minnesota Trap
Shooting Association three times, and was inducted into the Minnesota
Trap Shooter's Hall of Fame on July 9, 1993.

Richard A. Sturk, 83, Grand Rapids, formerly of Bovey, died on Friday, June 10, 2011 in Bemidji.

James R. Petty, age 64, died
at his home in Annandale during the early morning on
Friday, March 11, 2011 from what is believed to have been cardiac
arrest. James Roger Petty was born May 25, 1946 to the late
Lawrence and Sarah Petty; they resided in Maine Prairie just north
of Kimball. Jim attended the Maine Prairie Country School and
graduated from Kimball High
School in 1963. On July 30, 1977, he was united in marriage to
Paula Flygare at Camp Koinonia in South Haven. Jim was an active
member of the Kimball Rod and Gun Club, where he thoroughly
enjoyed the competition and camaraderie of trapshooting with close
friends and family. He also served on the Ski Patrol of
Powder Ridge for 30 years, and was once named Patrolman of the
Year for the state of Minnesota. An avid outdoorsmen, much of
Jim’s leisure time was spent on the lakes fishing.

James Roger Petty was born May 25, 1946 to the late Lawrence and Sarah Petty; they resided in Maine Prairie just north of Kimball. Petty Brothers is currently owned by Jim and his son, Bob.
Jim was an active member of the Kimball Rod and Gun Club, where he thoroughly enjoyed the competition and camaraderie of trapshooting with close friends and family. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Sarah Petty.

River Falls. Patrick won the 1981 Minnesota State Handicap
Championship, breaking a 98x100. Memorial services will be held at

making until his death

Patrick Gordan Fischer was born on April 2, 1947 to Verna Marie (Lockwood) and Walter A. Fischer in Brainerd. He was raised in the Deer River, Motley and Pillager area until moving to Thief River Falls at the age of 6. He was baptized and confirmed. He attended school in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965. He then graduated from Thief River Falls Junior College in 1967. He attended Bemidji State College.
Patrick began dating his future wife, Kay Lorrayne Liden, when he was 14 years old. They were united in marriage on December 20, 1968 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. They have made their home in Thief River Falls. After graduating high school, Pat worked for 26 years at LB Hartz in the warehouse and was foreman of the produce department for sometime. He then got his captain’s license for charter boats and ran the Old Guide Charter Service on Lake of the Woods. He later started the Old Guide Tackle Company, which he was still making until his death.

Dodge, Cottage Grove, Minnesota

Gary was a veteran having served in
the
United States Marines during the Vietnamese war.
Gary Dodge
passed away December 23, 2010 at the age of 64 after battling
esophageal cancer. Dodge was born on November 12th
1946. During his ATA career, He fired at 77,150 singles, 59,700
handicap and 42,550 doubles. Gary was an experienced pipe fitter
and managed many jobs for his longtime employer, Harris
Mechanical. Gary is survived by his wife Donna, sons Karl (Dianna)
and Keith as well as his grandson Carter.
He loved
trapshooting. His priorities in life were family, job, and
trapshooting. He traveled to many states to shoot registered
targets but enjoyed shooting winters in Florida the most. Shooters
from the now closed West Palm Beach Club and Robison Ranch will
remember his easy going style and his dedication to the game.
Dodge also shot many thousand league targets in Minnesota at both
the 3M Company Club and at West End Gun Club.

John
Bolich, Fridley, MN, (1940-2010) one of the good guys in Minnesota
trapshooting, died this past Saturday, July 31, 2010 at his
home. John was elected twice president of the MTA and was elected
into the Minnesota Trapshooting HOF in 2000. John began shooting
registered trap in1974. After seven years as MTA Director from the
Central Zone, he served two terms as MTA Vice-President, then two
terms as President. In these capacities he classified at countless
local and zone shoots and the state shoots of Minnesota, Iowa, and
South Dakota. With his wife, Elaine, he planned the Ladies
Luncheon at the State Shoot for seven years. In the last few years
he registered 15,000 targets annually while battling a host of
painful ills. Through all of it, he never complained. John's
presence and unfailingly friendly and optimistic attitude will be
forever missed in Minnesota and everywhere he was known.

Fridley, passed away suddenly on Saturday,
July 31, 2010. Preceded in death by his beloved wife
Elaine and by his father John Bolich. John was retired
after a 37 year career at Sperry Univac/Unisys. Throughout
his lifetime he was an avid outdoorsman and member of the
Amateur Trapshooting Association. He held 2 terms as
President of the MN Trapshooting Association and was
inducted into the MN Trapshooting Hall of Fame. John was a
wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and
friend. His spirit, smile, laughter and giving gestures
will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Survived
by daughter Sue Bolich; son Dave (Diane) Bolich;
granddaughter Dakotah Bolich; his mother Wanda; 2 brothers
Jerry (Joan) and Don (Mary Ann) Bolich; other relatives
and friends. Mass of Christian Burial 1 pm Friday at the
Church of St. William, 6120 5th St. NE, Fridley.
Visitation from 6-9 pm Thursday with a 7 pm prayer service
in the Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley &
